There is no doubt that Culver City, known as the Heart of Screenland, is the place to find a Storybook cottage straight out of a fairytale. In 1926, Lawrence Joseph built this remarkable property, which has been nicknamed The Hobbit Houses. This whimsical cottage was built by Mr. Joseph over a period of 24 years (1946 to 1970). An interpretation of European cottages inspired the unusual style. In the past, Joseph worked as an artist at Walt Disney Studios. In addition to working for Culver City Walt Disney Studios as an artist, he also worked for Lockheed (in Burbank) on classified aircraft design projects. An existing single-family residence was redesigned by Joseph, and two buildings were built (2 stories each with multiple units). A carpenter and sailor by trade, he built the three buildings with nautical interiors due to his expertise.

At the moment, the main house is being rented for $2595 per month. It would be so fun to come home every day to a home like this, full of magic and whimsy. Security deposit equal to one month's rent is required for a lease of at least one year. This apartment does not allow pets and comes with a parking space.
